“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” Filming in Louisiana Buzz Not So Unfounded

A lot of chatter about the possibility of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn taking theTwilight scene elsewhere (than former filming spots Portland and Vancouver) – specifically to New Orleans, Louisiana – has come about lately.

What started as a rather rogue rumor, though, has become substantiated little by little, thanks to local journalists checking in on the situation.

The Advertiser reports:

Amber Havens, public information officer for Louisiana Entertainment, said she couldn’t confirm or deny those reports.”We’re very aware of that rumor, as well,” Havens said. “We just don’t have anything to say about it at this time. But we would welcome and love to have that production here. Louisiana has become a go-to destination for filmmakers, and we’re always at the top of the list. We absolutely are a serious player in the industry.”

The site also reports that the official Summit Entertainment stance on the matter remains mum, with correspondence indicating that no official decisions related to the project are yet available, except that Bill Condon will be directing.

Apparently, though, The Advertiser opines that Louisiana as a filming location for Breaking Dawnwould be good for both its economy and growing experience as a chosen set.

If the production is indeed moved to Louisiana, it would be one of the biggest coups for the state since it launched several tax incentives in 2002 intended to draw film and television projects to the area. Havens pointed out that Green Lantern and Battleship, both of which are expected to be major summer hits, are either filming or in pre-production in Louisiana.

NOLA.com also weighed in on the subject with a bit of interesting information:

The second, more telling, development comes in the form of incorporation papers filed last week with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office by an agent for Summit and establishing a new corporate entity called “TSBD LOUISIANA, L.L.C.” – which would seem to stand for “Twilight: Saga Breaking Dawn.”

Of course, filing incorporation papers is a long way from booking soundstages and crewing up — but as early signs go, it’s a good one that there might be truth to these rumors.

As you know, it is a policy here to await official confirmation from the film studio to accept any possibility as fact, but for now it looks like Louisiana is indeed high on the roster of choices for the project
