Asawari Tripathi, a student of Class IX at Father Agnel School, Noida has earned laurels by winning the first prize in the Scholastic Writings Awards 2010 in the Senior Open Letter Category.
Her letter to Edward Cullen, the vampire of the Twilight Series, portrayed by teenage heartthrob Hollywood actor Robert Pattinson has been published in a compilation of the award-winning entries titled ‘For Kids by Kids: The Best of Scholastic Writing Awards 2010’.
The book was launched by eminent authors Anupa Lal and Arunava Sinha.
The ‘Scholastic Writing Awards’ competition has been taking place at the national level for over 10 years. Students were given the option of writing a short story on any subject of their choice or a letter to their favourite superhero. The student entries were divided into 2 categories, including Juniors (classes IV-VI) and Seniors (VII-IX). Over 2,500 entries were received and judged by teachers at the preliminary level and then the short listed entries, the top 25%, were judged by a panel of judges comprising eminent authors — Siddartha Sarma, Venita Coelho, Anupa Lal and Arunava Sinha.
