How will Breaking Dawn's 'Renesmee' be Brought to Life on Screen

Anyone who has read Stephenie Meyer'sBreaking Dawn, the final book in the Twilight Saga, has probably wondered how theBreaking Dawn movie makers are going to create the character of Renesmee Cullen on the big screen. The character is not only an emotionally complex role for a young actress to play, but also challenging in terms of her physicality.

Well, the making of Renesmee isn't going to be simple by any means. Wait until you hear how they're creating her.

As we are told in the book, Bella and Edward's half human/half vampire daughter Renesmee ages at lightning speed. This sets forth a bit of a cinematic challenge for the filmmakers. So how are they going to make Renesmee happen in living color?

Well, Renesmee will be played by 10-year-old actress Mackenzie Foy. However, she will also be played by three other young actresses -- Eliza Faria will play Renesmee at age 5, Rachel St. Gelais will play Renesmee at age 6, and Sierra Pitkin will play the oldest Renesmee -- but not the way you might think. After all, it wouldn't be much fun to watch a character whose face is completely different every time she ages in a flash.

So the savvy wondertechs behind the movie are going to superimpose Mackenzie Foy's face on the three other actresses' bodies in the scenes where she is at varying ages/sizes. The digital effects used will be similar to those used on Brad Pitt in the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. How awesome!

Canadian Actor Ryan Robbins Tweets That His Daughter Has Auditioned As Renesmee!

Canadian actor Ryan Robbins (known for his role on the tv show Sanctuary) recently tweeted that his daughter has auditioned for the role of Renesmee in Breaking Dawn

The above picture is the only picture I could find online of Ryan’s little girl. It was taken by a fan from an event last year. The person who took the picture credits this little girl in the photo as being his daughter, who came up on stage to give her Daddy a hug during the event. Unfortunately you can’t see her face in this picture . She was born in 2004 ..

Stephenie Meyer Talks Volvos, Sequels with Renesmee, Leah and Edward’s Chivalry

Twilight Series Theories has a great transcription and audio clip of the part of the interview where Stephenie talks about her feelings on the Volvo color change in the movies, the characters she would most like to do sequels with and how she just enjoys writing – not to send out a message or make a point.

Fansite: If you were forced to write a sequel or some novella, which—what character or characters would you do?

SM: If I were to go ahead with sequels, and I think that I’ve already stated this in some book thing, I would tell it from two narrators again, although I think I’d switch back and forth and it would be Nessie and Leah. And you know it’s funny because a lot of people are like—I’ve read a lot of theories about why I felt compelled to have Bella have a baby and there’s only one reason and it’s not because—there isn’t a lot of really negative stuff—it’s not because you know Bella needed to have a baby or anything, it’s because I knew—it was really clear because I’d already done “Forever Dawn”—once Bella becomes a vampire she loses her relatability. But Nessie was created because she was the logical voice, you have someone who’s half-human, half-vampire who doesn’t fit in anywhere and is an outsider in some ways, but then loved and cherished by her family. But all the intricacies—she had so many problems, so many challenges so she was so attractive to me as a narrator. And then Leah, of course, obviously is left open, right? I can’t—I couldn’t solve all the problems in this because I didn’t want to end it. I mean clearly the Volturi, that wasn’t the end, end. I needed to get to an ending spot for now, but you know I…I just couldn’t see them, the Volturi—they’re smart, they’re patient, they’ve been doing this forever—they’re not going to get into this situation and not say, “Oh we need to reevaluate.” It didn’t make sense for me—them as characters to just go ahead with it, for me. But like, Nessie’s supposed to tell the story next and Leah has a story to tell too and so that’s where it would go.

Renesmee Cullen Turns 4! Present to her: Listing Nessie Aspects We're Excited To See In 'Breaking Dawn'

The past month has been chock-full of important dates for our favorite vampire family, the Cullens. First, was

Edward and Bella's wedding anniversary on August 13. Our calendar is already marked for September 13 when we'll be sure to wish a very happy birthday to Bella, but today is all about her half-vampire, half-human daughter, Miss Renesmee Cullen, who turns four years old—sorta.

Since Stephenie Meyer never quite explained the mathematics behind Renesmee's rapid aging, we'll guess that she's somewhere between the mental and physical capacities of a 10 to 14-year-old by now (remember, she'll reach full maturity by 7 years old, but forever look 17). We'd feel bad offering her a birthday present she's too old for or can't use yet, so instead, we decided to gift her with four aspects of her character we're most excited to see in both installments of "Breaking Dawn"!

1. The birthing scene
Sorry, Nessie, but this is one we're dying to see. How will Bill Condon and Melissa Rosenbergmake the birthing scene terrifying without making you seem like a monster? After all, you become one of the most beloved characters in the film by "Part 2." We're glad that's their challenge to deal with and not ours!

2. Jacob's imprint
Once again, this is a challenge we do not envy Taylor Lautner for having to deal with: falling madly in love with a newborn baby right out of the womb after just one look. Hopefully it will come across as beautifully in the film as it does in the book and doesn't just end up being really creepy. Also, we're really interested to see what exactly Jacob will imprint on, which leads us to our next item.

3. CGI or actual person?
This has been the big question all along: Will Renesmee be CGI or an actual girl (or many girls, we guess)? To use a CGI newborn instead of a cute, cuddly little baby seems like the wrong choice, but also, how else will they be able to get across the very many unique characteristics that Renesmee has? We'll be interested to see what the crew comes up with.

4. Supernatural abilities
Renesmee is supposed to be a completely unique creature, and she is definitely something we've never seen in the "Twilight" universe before. It will be interesting to see what special effects are used to represent her abilities on the big screen, and how much time will be spent developing how special Renesmee actually is. After all, that will pretty much be the main plot line for the second film.
