Most critics and bloggers couldn’t get past the “OMG Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning are gonna play rockers” factor and well, shame on them. To be certain Flora Sigismondi’s feature directorial debut left a lot to be desired. It followed the biopic route to a deadening pulse and the director’s usually gorgeous visual eye was nowhere to be found. But you know what? Stewart and Fanning were solid in their roles and Michael Shannon as the crooked manager Kim Fowley was awesomely outrageous and over-the-top. While it won’t start a revolution, for ninety minutes, there are enough guilty pleasures to be found within to make it worth your while.

FTW: Bella and Edward

We know what half of you are thinking; finally, someone agrees with us and recognizes that Edward and Bella are fated to be together. And we also know what the other half of you are thinking: nooooo, she belongs with Jacob! Whichever way your jib is cut, though, you’ve got to admit that the heroes of both Team Jacob and Team Edward continue to set the bar for on-screen chemistry with their lady love. Now if only we can convince the producers of “The Twilight Saga” to include Team Coco in the next movie…

As everyone slowly digs out from under their mountain of Christmas gifts (and for you folks on the East Coast, a mountain of snow), it’s time to give old 2010 a pat on the back and send her on her way as 2011 makes its way in. But before 2010 finds its comfy little spot in the history books, let’s take a look back at the year that was in movies.

First up are the ten highest grossing films of 2010. Most interesting about this list (to me, at least) is that in all likelihood not one of these films will win the Best Picture Oscar (except for Toy Story 3, which is still a long shot), and only two of them will probably end up with a Best Picture nomination. Does that mean the Academy is nominating the wrong films, or is just that quantity (in this case, box office dollars) does not always equal quality?
