The two co-star in the upcoming drama Equals.

"She's so talented," Hoult told me at South by Southwest, where he helped unveil the new Jaguar XE at Boffin's Lab Powered by Jaguar and Wired Insider event. "I really can't speak highly enough about her. She's a talented, lovely and a wonderful girl…She's just got such a smart approach to her work and she's a real artist."

In the film, Hoult and Stewart live in a futuristic world where all human emotion has been eradicated.

"My character starts to get what they consider a sickness, where he starts to have nightmares and feel things and he's like, 'Hang on! What's going on here?'" Hoult said. "And then he notices Kristen's character and they start to develop this relationship in a world where people aren't allowed to have relationships, where they don't exist. It's basically a love story."

The Twilight star was curious about how the local favourite tasted. So managing and artistic director at the Jean Yip Group, Mervin Wee bought her a packet.
"She loved it," chilli and all, he said.
Kristen Stewart had her hair cut at a private room at the Jean Yip Loft at Chinatown for her role in sci-fi Hollywood film Equals.
Co-star Nicholas Hoult had his hair done at the one-north MRT Station while the 107 other cast members had their at the Infinite Studios at Portsdown Road over five consecutive days.

David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment has newly boarded international rights to the stellar Cannes package Equals, set to star Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and Warm Bodies lead Nicholas Hoult.

Breathe In and Like Crazy director Drake Doremus will direct screenwriter Nathan Parker’s (Moon) futuristic love story set in a society where emotions have been eradicated. Stewart and Hoult will play the film’s young couple rebelling against their society.

Doremus is next set to direct “Equals,” a futuristic romance he aims to shoot this year. With Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult starring, it certainly has a bigger feel. (Essentially it’s about an uber-rationalist society that’s been stripped of all romantic feeling, seemingly to its betterment, and what happens when a man starts developing emotions again.)

Of course, as he's Drake Doremus, he’s hardly doing it the conventional way either. The movie will be shot in Tokyo (Doremus wanted the futurism the city can offer) and financed not by a studio but with Indian Paintbrush, an independent company that bankrolled Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” as well as “Like Crazy.”

“It feels more commercial to me," he said of the new project. "Maybe some people would need to do something even more commercial. But it needs to feel like me." He paused, “Like I said, life’s too short.”

Kristen Stewart has signed on to play the lead in "Like Crazy" director Drake Doremus' futuristic love story "Equals," and it's making her a nervous wreck.

"I can't believe I agreed to do it," said the "Twilight" actress about her upcoming role in the sci-fi drama, which also stars Nicholas Hoult of the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Stewart describes "Equals" as a slightly updated version of the 1956 film "1984," based on George Orwell's classic 1949 novel about rebellion in a repressed futuristic society. "Equals" begins filming later this year.

"I'm terrified of it," said the 23-year-old actress in a recent interview. "Though it's a movie with a really basic concept, it's overtly ambitious."
