So did Dakota and Kristen's on-screen smooch beat out the others....no. The other girl on girl kiss from Black Swan grabbed the honors.

The Runaways one of Rotten Tomatoes, Editor's Choice Favorite Films of 2010
RT Editors Choose Their Favorite Films of 2010!
Your friendly neighborhood RT staffers name their favorite films of the year.

It was a good year to be bored in LA. I loved the slow-burn narcissism of Noah Baumbach's Greenberg and Sofia Coppola's Somewhere, but nothing beat West Coast ennui better than a gang of pre-punk teenage girls with guitars in this hazy, Quaalude-stoned reverie for the city's hedonistic heyday. Beautifully filmed by debut director Floria Sigismondi, who paints a kind of lovesick valentine to The Virgin Suicides via Christiane F., The Runaways captures what most join-the-dots music biopics don't: the vitality of its subject. It's as though the film had been shot through a smear of glam rock facepaint by a camera mounted on platform boots -- catching that fleeting thrill of being 16 and defiant, before the world comes crashing back down. And Dakota Fanning's eerie-eyed, silent film miming to "Lady Grinning Soul" -- before flipping off the school assembly -- goes way deeper than any over-the-top, earnest Oscar acting.

The Runaways Included in "The Last Five Films That Have Earned Unjustified Criticism"
The Runaways was a movie seriously challenged by U.S. critics. This has not gone unnoticed ára site I Am Rouge, who made a list of five recent films that have won critical unjustifiable, put it in fourth place.
# 4 - The Runaways: The film received critical acclaim, but for every positive statement received two negative. Floria Sigismondi did a great job to stay true to the story of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, but the performance of Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart leaves a lasting impression in my mind.
Michael Shannon's performance (or crazy, as I say some) and producer Kim Fowley not be overlooked, as their interpretation goes beyond the conventional barrier. A unique soundtrack is really an excellent movie very underrated. If you saw any negative criticism and careful about the film, throw those notions out the window and give a chance for history is a great job.
A Preview Of 'The Runaways' From 'Sydsvenskan'(Sweden)
Few bands are as difficult to relate to as The Runaways.
How was it: they were a feminist vanguard of a male-dominated rock world, or just a bunch of cynically exploited teenage girls in the hands of a morally rotten manager?
The question raised by the feature film "The Runaways" which went up on American movie theaters last spring and is now on DVD. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning play guitar and singer Joan Jett, Cherie Currie.
The answer?
Director Floria Sigismondi leaning towards the latter, but still shy away from the toughest pieces of the autobiography of Cherie Currie, which script is based on: "Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway". In the end, it becomes little more than a rock film in the crowd, a story of young people with rock'n'rolldrömmar who fall into the fast lane and drive over.
They were really pioneers: five girls who appeared on the boys' way, and who sang about six too young, too much drugs and too ridiculous rock'n'roll.
But Iggy Pop who runs half naked on stage is still nothing more than a 16-year-old Cherie Currie of the corset.
The Runaways dreamed of living evasion and self-realization. Itself was the Kim Fowleys wet dream come true. In 1975, music industry, a male chauvinist sanctuary of stale values, and Kim Fowley was its prophet. He was certainly controversial and rather badly seen, but not enough.
Fowley is a remarkable figure, a spin doctor who had scarcely been able to operate in another industry. He was a little me in a bit of everything: he produced, wrote songs, released artists. He had credentials from Gene Vincent to the Swedish Contact 1975 when he gathered the band that was The Runaways.
He was half-talented, but not with no scruples. He stuffed the musicians full of drugs, and rock cliches, and expected loyalty, money and sex in exchange.
The Lord Of The Runaways seems so far that a dark chapter, but it does not stop there. What is interesting is how later musicians took on the band's prefabricated rebellion and shocking sexuality - and has made farming his own. Having been a little more than Joan Jett's embarrassing past began grunge band L7 Hole to highlight the band as an example.
And when Sahara Hotnights does a cover of the band's "Cherry Bomb" let it alone as a tribute to a strong woman.

The Runways–for which Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Kristen Stewart cut her hair prior to filming Eclipse, much to the dismay of the studio and the resulting wig in Eclipse–has been released a full week early on iTunes.I’m not sure if it’s a slip-up or not, but you can now buy it for $14.99 on iTunes a full week before its official July 20th release date.
Kristen Stewart plays legendary rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways, alongside Twilight co-star Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curie. Overall it received mildy favorable reviews, with a 70% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Moore from the Orlando Sentinel praises it–
A well-acted and vivid re-creation of a dark, downbeat era when “girls don’t play electric guitar,” and you had to be someone pretty tough and pretty special to try it.
Pre-order the DVD and Blu-Ray if you like your movies the phsyical way like me.
