Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart And Taylor Lautner land in Brazil next Friday, November 5, to begin testing the scenes of Breaking Dawn, says Brazil's largest newspaper Globo. The newspaper said the trio would return later this month to begin filming scenes. The neighborhood of Lapa will be used as the backdrop. According to information from lulacerda journalist (posted here), filming would take place in Rio in six days, and in Paraty on 7 and 8 November.

There’s no denying vampires and werewolves have enraptured us of late. But society’s interest in the supernatural is nothing new. Cinematic history is chock full of flicks focusing on otherworldly beings. With more than a year (!!) until our favorite vampire franchise returns with “Breaking Dawn,” we’re passing the time by revisiting movies featuring creatures that go Bump In The Night or BITN (get it, bitten?)

This week we’re taking a look at “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” the most recent, most popular and easily the most vampire-y of the “Twilight” films.

Synopsis: Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings, and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life: to become a vampire or to remain human.
Representation of vampires: These are definitely not your traditional vampires. They don’t have fangs, wooden stakes and holy water don’t kill them, they don’t sleep in coffins, and the only bad side effect of going out into the sunlight is that they sparkle. Still, David Slade’s take on “Eclipse” was markedly darker than the two previous installments of “The Twilight Saga,” and the side story of bad vamps Riley, Victoria and the newborns is much more traditional than most people give the film credit for. That opening sequence gives us chills every time!
Good or evil: This one’s tough, because the vamps in “Eclipse” are both the good guys and the bad guys. In “The Twilight Saga,” vampires have the choice to be good or bad. The vampire clan who our heroine Bella hangs out with, the Cullens, are definitely the good guys, but, in “Eclipse” especially, there are plenty of bad vampires coming after them.
Why we’re BITN: The obvious reason is because “Eclipse” marks the highest level of tension in the Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle, but the reason “Eclipse” is the “Twilight” film we chose for this week’s BITN is because it definitely has our favorite of the films’ representations of vampires. Riley’s transformation and control of the newborns, and subsequently his manipulation by Victoria, makes us actually think for the first time in these films that vampires are something to be afraid of, as well as to swoon over. Plus, that final battle sequence is just too awesome for words.

Here is a mid-week box office update. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse sits at #22 on the charts. At 476 locations, it took in another $59,749 on Monday for a per theater average of $125 and a decrease of 60% from Sunday, $60,019 on Tuesday for a per theater average of $126 and a 0.9% increase from Monday, and $53,347 on Wednesday for a per theater average of $112 and an 11.1% decrease from Tuesday. This adds up to a cumulative domestic total of $298,200,597 after 64 days in release. Adding in the latest verifiable overseas returns of $380.6M gives Eclipse a current worldwide total of $678,800,597.
Theater counts for the week of Friday, September 3 – Thursday, September 8 reflect a 16.8% decrease of 80 for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse to 396 locations, dropping it from #22 to #23.
For those comparing the films in The Twilight Saga, after 64 days New Moon had taken in $292,793,194. Eclipse is now at $298,200,597. Both films hit the $250M mark on the 16th day. The total domestic gross for New Moon was $296,623,634. Eclipse has now broken that total by $1,576,963. The film is now within striking distance of the elusive $300M mark. It needs about $1.8M to get to that number. It took New Moon 22 more days to earn an additional $1.9M after its 64th day, and Eclipse is clearly doing better. On the other hand, New Moon dropped to 444 theaters on its 64th day while Eclipse drops to 396 locations tomorrow. Still, even after New Moon’s theater count had dropped to 352 (after 70 days) it still went on to take in another $3.24M. Therefore, it should take no more than about two weeks for Eclipse to earn another $1.8M and pass $300M.

As I’ve been saying since it opened, the idea was not to compete against or beat New Moon’s early numbers. That may be a goal of some people but the idea is to make money, and maybe set some records in the process.
First, remember that the film’s opening weekend started on a Wednesday. There is no way that a “weekend” that begins on a Wednesday can be compared to a “normal” 3-day weekend (when New Moon opened). So any comparison between the two based on how many “weekends” it’s been out simply isn’t valid. Next, look at the time of year the two films were released. New Moon came out during the Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday season. It’s a big time of year for Hollywood but still doesn’t compare to summer, when they put out their “tentpole” films — the potential blockbusters that will keep the studios in the black for another year. The competition is much more fierce beginning Memorial Day weekend through the 4th of July. It’s simply a different marketplace.
Is Summit happy with the film’s box office returns? I don’t know but I’m fairly sure they must be. Again, the goal was not to “beat New Moon.” That may be something the press or some others will latch on to but it may not be a fair comparison. It was very easy to compare Twilight to New Moon since they opened at the same time one year apart. Not so much New Moon to Eclipse. I think it’s wise to just see how the film does over time in its own right.
Now wouldn’t be a bad time to start planning for your DVD release parties. The street dates for Twilight and New Moon were both on day 121 of their theatrical runs (Saturdays). Following that line of thinking, Eclipse’s 121st day will be October 28th, a Thursday. The following Saturday would be October 30th — Halloween weekend. On the other hand, sources have told me that Summit is planning for a holiday season release — some say November while others say Christmas time.

The film took in another $75,817 on Monday from 557 locations for a per theater average of $136, representing a decrease of 53.5% from Sunday, and $75,445 on Tuesday from 557 locations, representing a 0.5% decrease from Monday. This adds up to a cumulative domestic total of $297,368,060 after 56 days in release. Adding in overseas returns of $380.6M gives Eclipse a current worldwide total of $677,968,060.
For those comparing the films in The Twilight Saga, at this point in its release history (after 56 days) New Moon had taken in $291,300,411. Eclipse is now at $297,368,060. Both films hit the $250M mark on the 16th day. The total domestic gross for New Moon was $296,623,634 (after 132 days). Eclipse has now broken that total by $744,426 (after 56 days). This represents an increase of 18.6% from Friday. Its new cumulative domestic total is $291.552M after 38 days in release. Adding in overseas returns of $356.7M gives Eclipse a current worldwide total of $648.252M.
It drops into 11th place behind The Other Guys, opening with $13.2M at 3,651 locations for a per theater average of $3,615, Step Up 3-D, opening with $6.6M at 2,435 locations for a per theater average of $2,710, Inception, with $5.53M at 3,418 locations for a per theater average of $1,618 and a domestic cumulative total of $214.662M after 22 days in release, Dinner for Schmucks with $3.38M, Salt with $3M, Despicable Me with $2.92M, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore with $2.15M, Charlie St. Cloud with $1.72M, Toy Story 3 with $860K, and Grown Ups with $750K.

Eclipse” Estimated To Gross $150 million In Its First Six Days

With the ink still damp on $709.7 million of worldwide box-office gross from “Twilight Saga: New Moon,” Summit Entertainment well debut part-three franchise “Twilight” installment “Eclipse” into 4,408 engagements Wednesday, many of them offering midnight engagements.
With that theater count including 193 IMAX locations, Summit Entertainment officials are moving “Twilight” out of November for the first time, giving the film access to its young-female core demographic at a time when its constituents are out of school.
Conservative forecasts predict the PG-13-rated film will gross $150 million domestically in its first six days of release, spanning through the holiday weekend. That would usurp the $142.8 million three-day opening for “New Moon” last November.
“Eclipse,” which returns the core cast of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, will also debut in 41 foreign territories this weekend.
“We hope our opening day will be bigger on opening day because our audience isn’t getting up for school,” noted Summit distribution chief Richie Fay.
With tracking surveys revealing the “definite interests” of young female demographics to be in the almost unheard of 40-percent-and-above range, “Eclipse” will try to improve on a male-demo turnout that tallied less than 20 percent of the total audience for “New Moon.”
“We think being in IMAX this time around will help with that,” Fay added. “IMAX has the tendency to broaden the audience.“

Did Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart confess their rumored romance backstage on “The Oprah Winfrey Show?”
That’s what one online report suggested in the wake of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” stars’ appearance (with co-star Taylor Lautner) on the show in May, but Kristen told Entertainment Weekly how things really went down.
“She glided over to me – and she was strong, by the way, really firm hands – and she said, ‘How are you?’ I said, ‘Good.’ She said, ‘Good. Are you nervous?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I am, but I think I’m OK.’ She said, ‘Good. We’ll have fun,’” Kristen told the mag. “And then she just walked away. And that was the most I talked to her backstage.”
However, Kristen also addressed something she did say – a recent comment in the media comparing paparazzi photographs of herself to rape, which she later apologized for.
“I’m so sensitive about stuff like that. It is the one subject that means a lot to me. I made one movie directly concerning it and I made another one where my character has a horrible history of rape. I talked to a lot of people about it,” Kristen told EW. “I used the wrong word. I should have said ‘violated.’ But I’m young and emotional. It’s just the way it goes sometimes. I probably shouldn’t say this, but I just feel like people got so excited once they saw that it was me. It was like, ‘Sweet! Lets get her!’”
Robert also defended Kristen, taking aim at the “little nerds… on their little blogs” who had attacked the comment.
“None of those associations came out and gave a statement [criticizing Kristen] without being called upon by the media first – who were doing it specifically to get hits on their websites,” he noted to EW. “That whole system of Internet journalists, where no one is called to account, is almost entirely about hate. All these people get away with doing it because they have no responsibility to anyone. All they need is to get a salacious headline and people click on it, because it’s easy.”
However, Rob added that doing “The Twilight Saga” gave the cast plenty of interview opportunities – and chances to defend each other.
“That’s the only way,” he said of using interview time to dispel rumors. “All of us stick together as well. There are so many little nerds behind their computers, on their little blogs.”
“You can say so much more than me. It’s insane,” Kristen said, chiming in.
“That’s not true at all,” Rob responded. “When did I say anything [controversial?]”
“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is due in theaters June 30.
