New/Old Rob Interview from Cosmopolis Cannes Promo

Cosmopolis star talks about vampires, fame and the woman who sucked his blood.

Blame it on the typecast of pale, out of this world vampire that accompanies him. I don't know what I expected from Robert Pattinson, but what I got up close was a totally grounded behavior, a warm smile (maybe little shy too), an inherent gentleness. Pattinson was at Cannes Film Festival for David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis", a movie where he gave his most demanding performance, which he admitted didn't know how to handle at first.

He asks for mineral water. He is immediately asked about his prostate. It's not a random question - prostate is connected to Pattinson's part in "Cosmopolis". "I wish I knew" the actor says (after a while) when he realizes the reason he is asked this "anatomically indiscreet" question. "I have to have it examined. People say is very important - everybody talks about it. I never exactly understood what prostate is anyway" he comments.

Cronenberg's Twilight

When David Cronenberg sent Pattinson "Cosmopolis" script, the young actor was at the last days of filming Twilight's last movie, titled "Breaking Dawn Part 2", which premiers in Greece on November. "I read David's script and I'm not ashamed to say I didn't understand a thing, but I admit it was too cool, too scary and too weird." Pattinson called Cronenberg to tell him he wasn't ready to play the part - mostly because he couldn't understand what the part was about. "No problem" Cronenberg said "I don't really know what it is about. But it does seem juicy - doesn't it?" Pattinson was encouraged. "I thought that under these circumstances we could have a good start. So we decided to go through with it." Written by David Cronenberg himself "Cosmopolis" script is based on Don De Lilo's novel which has the same title and describes one day in the life of young multimillionaire Eric Packer(Pattinson) inside his huge white limo. All things start from Eric's wish to have a haircut at his old neighborhood barber shop. On his way there he will stop many times at New York's hell, meet dozens of people and finally change the way he sees his life.

New/Old Interview of Rob with Dagens Nyheter (Sweden) from Cosmopolis Cannes Promo

Similar to previously posted interview but some new quotes are there.

The vampire star doesn’t hold back when it comes to his image. His latest movie, “Cosmopolis” is set in a limo, where he lives with daily prostate examinations and customer visits.

Robert Pattinson is walking with a cup of coffee in one hand a red lollipop in the other hand at the hotel’s restaurant, at the rooftop in Cannes. He manages to not look like a moviestar which is very clever because everybody follows the moviestars in Cannes, and it’s like you can almost feel the air crackles of static electricity.

But that doesn’t seem to bother this 26-years-old british man. He talks, laughs and is excited and often sounds, frankly, like he was a few years younger and not a young veteran with experience from a dozen feature films.
-It was so weird at the screening yesterday, cause I didn’t even see the movie, I just sat there and listened if someone coughs. I just sat there and thought -”Oh God, please let it go well, oh god please!”

New Rob and David Cronenberg Interview with Firenze Made in Tuscany

image host image host image host image host image host

At Cannes, when we meet him, Robert Pattinson is serene, sipping a Schweppes, eating a sandwich. And he listens to David Cronenberg as if he was a holy man, a father, a guru. Cronenberg is the director of his latest film, Cosmopolis. A contemporary nightmare, in which Pattinson plays a financial wizard, one of those who earn millions of dollars with one click. Crosses, uncaring, a Manhattan in flames, with the signs of a world - ours - that collapses, closed in the unbreakable casing of his limousine. After all, is a perfect Limousine also its reputation. His success , overwhelming, came after New Moon, shot also in Tuscany, from the Twilight Saga. Pattinson became immediately the "wet dream" of millions of little girls. And now, the twenty-six years guy, must work hard to prove that he is a real actor,
not a vampire that has sucked the success from one film.

"Twilight was a hiccup for him," says David Cronenberg, the encounter with the press, on the terrace of a hotel in Cannes. "Robert is an amazing actor, who before that film had already did challenging movies. He became popular against his will."

New Rob Interview with Toronto.com from Cannes

CANNES, FRANCE—Robert Pattinson swears he can tell how people are enjoying his movies by how many coughs he hears from the audience.

He employed this unique gauge at the May 25 Cannes Film Festival world premiere of Cosmopolis, his new movie directed by David Cronenberg.

“I watched it at the screening last night, but I wasn’t even watching,” Pattinson, 26, tells a roundtable of journalists.

“I was just listening for every cough: Please don’t cough! Please don’t cough!”

He seems awfully nervous for one so successful. He’s the lead star of the Twilight franchise, playing moody vampire Edward Cullen, a role that has made him famous and rich. Pattinson also had a small role in another big film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He’s neither new at this game nor naïve. Could he really suffer from self-doubt?

Kristen and Rob Cannes Coverage Video + Kristen Mentions Rob and Cosmopolis with 2DF

Rob is at 0:35-0:48: The reporter says what's exciting is that tomorrow (referring to the awards that took place yesterday) his movie is also in competition as Kristen's. But that doesn't caused any stress at home (Thnks to Anita for helping me with the translation). At 0:56 Kristen says that she wanted Rob to win at the Cannes Film Festival: "I want him to win! The fact that we both were up here on the same year is crazy and very much of a coincidence."
