Uma Thurman talks about Rob's acting commitment in Bel Ami

Uma Thurman has praised her 'Bel Ami' co-star Robert Pattinson for his acting ability.

The 25-year-old actor became very involved for his role as 19th century Parisienne womaniser Georges Duroy for the film, and Uma insists he is constantly working hard to bring his skills up to the "next level."

In an interview with Stylist magazine, she said: "He's very serious. He did a huge amount of rehearsals in his own time. I think that's what you do when you're a young actor, when you take your work very seriously and want to take it to the next level."

Uma, 41, rose to fame as a teenager in films including 'Dangerous Liaisons' and 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' and while she finds it hard to be as serious as her co-star - famous for his role as Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' franchise - she did offer him advice on set.

She added: "When you've been doing this a really long time, it's hard to take it all so seriously. I said to him, 'Don't get too upset about it, because, before you know it, 'Twilight' will just be an old film that made you lucky enough to get another job. But when you're in that position and you're young, it's hard to hear through the noise."

Uma doesn't like to watch her oldest roles again, and she displayed a similar attitude to Robert in her earlier years.

She added: "I find it excruciating to watch myself as a teenager. I've made a vow never to do it. I was only 17 and working with some of the finest people you will ever meet in the industry, but you don't realise until you've spent 25 years trying to work with such a group again."

Uma Thurman talks about Rob and 'Bel Ami' with Harper's Bazaar UK

He may be the co-star in her latest movie but that didn't stop Uma Thurman from being upfront about Robert Pattinson.

The 41-year-old actress was obviously expecting a question about the Twilight star when she appeared in this month's Harper's Bazaar UK magazine - and she was certainly ready to answer it.

'To answer the ubiquitous question about this movie, yes, Robert is good-looking in person, but he doesn’t have that diamond-sparkle skin like in those Dracula movies,' she said.

The mother-of-two was of course referring to upcoming film Bel Ami in which she plays Pattinson's secret love interest.

As she draped herself across a velvet sofa in an array of designer dresses, Thurman went on to say that she enjoyed the role very much.

'It was a fun character, a nice, meaty, dramatic role, and who doesn’t love an excuse to wear a corset?' she told the monthly publication.

But before she could change the subject, she had one more thing to say about Pattinson: 'He’s a very disciplined, very serious, very ambitious, very organised actor.'

Thurman then went on to admit that it was only six years ago that she felt comfortable in the acting world.
'Acting was a place where I could fit in with those who didn’t fit in,' she explained.

The full feature appears in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, on sale Thursday 5th January

VIDEO: Uma Thurman Talks About Rob ~She didn't see his "bum"

Robert Pattinson will be 'a really serious actor,' Uma Thurman says but she can't confirm or deny reports about his nudity in their movie 'Bel Ami': 'I didn't see his bum once!

Throughout the course of his first few years in the business, Robert Pattinson has had a great run with quality leading ladies. During MTV News' recent live interview with the star, he joked that he has a special place in his heart for working with "hot girls."

When MTV News caught up with one of the "hot" women in question, Uma Thurman, she laughed off the compliment and turned the praise back toward her co-star and his impressive work in their upcoming period drama, "Bel Ami."

"Robert Pattinson is, I think, going to be a really serious actor," Thurman said while promoting her new movie "Ceremony." "I think he's incredibly concrete in his presence on the set and obviously is very handsome. [He] is a very nice person and he's sensitive. He's present. ... He's a really good actor."

Thurman went on to say that while a lot of attention is focused on his attractiveness, he was very professional during filming and held his own with all the women who appear in "Bel Ami."

"Yes, he's extremely dashing, like an old-world movie star," Thurman admitted. "[But] he's got a lot of weight to him. I don't think he was knocked down by all the women they threw at him [during the filming of 'Bel Ami'], which I think is probably lucky for him."

Speaking to Pattinson's comments that we might see a lot of his bum in "Bel Ami," Thurman revealed she was not privy to any RPattz nakedness.

"I didn't see his bum once!" she said, laughing. "So I can't tell you about it. I don't know what happened to him with other characters, I have no idea, to tell you the truth," she said, adding that just because she didn't see it, doesn't mean it won't be in the film. "I haven't seen the film cut together, so there may or may not be Robert's bum."

“Bel Ami” Co-Star Uma Thurman Mentions Rob in an Interview with Jornal de Noticias

Translation Provided by Lena fro Spunk Ransom:
Have you ever felt any difficulty to find interesting roles because of age?
In the last movies, I only have romantic relationships with younger guys. Even my 12 years-old daughter noticed that. Of course I’m very disturbed by the fact that Robert Pattinson played my husband.. But my current mate is seven years older than me.

Side note: the certificate which is shown as TBC, refers to the designation used ‘to classify films with regard to suitability for audiences in terms of issues such as sex, violence, substance abuse, profanity, impudence or other types of mature content. A particular issued rating is called a certification.’ source So Bel Ami is still unrated.

** Optimum Releasing is the company responsible for the release of Bel Ami in UK.
