Walter Salles Talks About Kristen
About the choice of Kristen for the role of Marylou: “She was one of the first people to join the project. A friend of mine had seen “Into the Wild” and told me about her. I remember she was so unknown at the time that I had to write her name on a piece of paper not to forget [laughs]. When I met her, it was a nice surprise to know that “On The Road” was her favorite book.”
About having Kristen in the cast: “It was something great to have Kristen in the cast. Several young people who are fans of her and had no contact with Jack Kerouac’s work came to know this other side of literature. And now many of them are fans of this kind of reading. “
About Kristen and Garrett being faithful to the project: “In this movie they received the minimum wage possible, so they were shooting because they really love the book itself. They all remained faithful to the project after becoming famous. Garrett called me every time throughout the period that the filming did not materialize to know if he could accept other movies’ projects, or we were about to start filming “On The Road”, which was his priority.”

Nikki Reed Talks About Kristen's Performance in 'OTR' and 'SWATH'
E! Online: Nikki Reed isn't the least bit surprised that her Twilight costar Kristen Stewart went topless in On the Road.
It's not because she thinks her fellow Twilight starlet is some sort of closet exhibitionist, but...
"She's such a great actress and knows what she's doing," Reed, 24, told me at the MTV Movie Awards. "She's really excited about it. So if she's excited about it, I'm excited about it. I think it's awesome."
And Ms. Reed has similar high praise for K.Stew's latest box-office hit, Snow White and the Huntsman. She remembers Stewart, 22, talking about snagging the coveted role while they were filming the second Breaking Dawn movie.
Reed took her mom to see the film on opening day. "It's great," she gushed. "It was awesome. All the performances were super. It's really fun."

Kristen Talks About On the Road with Marc Malkin
Kristen Stewart doesn’t sound too surprised about all the fuss that’s been made about her going topless in On The Road.
“People are really predictable,” she told me yesterday at the MTV Sneak Peek of Snow White and the Huntsman. “I completely expected that.”
Not that she has any regrets about doing the racy flick…
“I can’t say it’s not a little bit jarring, but it’s jarring in the right way,” said Stewart, 22. “I wanted it to be. I’m really proud of it.”
She said she didn’t know what to expect from audiences when the film premiered earlier this month at the Cannes Film Festival. “Everyone could have gotten up and booed, but our row would have gotten up and cheered,” Stewart said. “We all really do love it, so it would be like, ‘Let’s go have a drink!’”
Fortunately, the screening was boo-free.
Sounds like getting naked may have been easier than the pain she suffered while making SWATH.
“I would hurt myself every single day,” Stewart said. “The thumbs was really bad, the worst one. But every other day it would be like, ‘Ouch, it’s this ankle or that ankle.’ Or my butt muscle—I would do something stupid like pull my ass muscle.”

Rob Talks About Cosmopolis, Cannes and OTR + Kristen Talks About Cannes and OTR and Mentions Cosmopolis
Robert Pattinson, 26, stars as a Wall Street banker in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, shot primarily in the back of his character's giant white limousine — where Pattinson's banker has a tryst with 48-year-old French actress Juliette Binoche. Pattinson then does Efron one better.
"There's a scene where I'm seducing (another woman) naked, while having a prostate exam in the back of a limousine. People don't really see that very often in movies," Pattinson says with a laugh. "You do what you can to surprise people."
...
The red carpet lineup also will feature Twilight's golden couple, Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. This time they are going head-to-head, with Stewart starring in the competition film On the Road.
"I'm already making excuses," Pattinson jokes about their friendly festival competition.
But for these two weeks, it's not all about winning the contest, but enjoying the glitz in the South of France.
"There is really something glamorous about Cannes," Pattinson says. "It's the bow ties and the way the festival holds onto the glamour. People really make an effort."

Cosmopolis, SWATH and On The Road in Wired Magazine's Lise of "2012’s Most Tantalizing Movies"
Let’s Take a Ride: Cosmopolis
Story: Taking place over 24 hours in Manhattan, Cosmopolis examines the heart and soul of the West through the story of a 28-year-old stock market millionaire (played by Robert Pattinson) who takes a drive across town in his limo to get a haircut.
Why it could be cool: The movie is being directed by the always-surprising-us David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises) and based on a novel by Don DeLillo. So if “movie about a car ride” doesn’t sound exciting just yet, consider the sources. If nothing else, it should be visually stunning and rife with compelling dialog. The film is also being scored by Howard Shore, the Oscar-winning composer behind the Lord of the Rings films.
Cautionary note: Very little is known about this adaptation yet, so even though its creators are brilliant it’s hard to anticipate exactly what they’ll create, or how enthralling it might be. —Angela Watercutter
Release date: 2012
A Fairy-Tale Revamp: Snow White and the Huntsman
Why it could be cool: We were admittedly skeptical about this film, but then the first trailer (above) was released and we went from "meh" to "meep!" Not only did it take Snow White out of the flow-y dresses and put her in some serious armor, it turned the whole fairy tale on its head. Screenwriter Evan Daugherty has said his guiding principle was, "What if, instead of saving Snow White, the huntsman teaches Snow White to save herself?" That alone sets the tone for a fairly intriguing revamp, but throw in Hemsworth (aka Thor) doing his hammer-swinging thing with axes instead and we're all of a sudden more ready for a new Snow White movie than we ever thought we would be.
Cautionary note: It seems unlikely, but there is a chance everything worth seeing in Snow White and the Huntsman was in that first trailer. —Angela Watercutter
Release date: June 1
On the Road, and It's About Time
Story: Don't make us trot out the dunce caps. You should probably have read On the Road well before college, so we're all scratching our heads why it took this long to transform the book into a film. David Cronenberg already made the previously unfilmable Naked Lunch, for Mugwump's sake!
Why it could be cool: Jack Kerouac's timeless novel of geographical and metaphysical liberation in a '40s stuffed with sex, drugs, jazz and cars influenced everyone from Bob Dylan and The Doors to Hunter S. Thompson's gonzo journalism. Walter Salles' On the Road film adaptation will star Tron Legacy's Garrett Hedlund and the Twilight franchise's Kristen Stewart for post-millennial fanboys and girls. Plus, Viggo Mortensen as William S. Burroughs? Sold!
Cautionary note: Stream-of-consciousness is hard to contain. That's a philosophical way of saying that On the Road's 2012 release date has not been officially confirmed.—Scott Thill
Release date: To be decided

Kim Bubbs talks about filming 'On the Road'
How did you get involved with 'On the Road'? That sounds like a cool project.
Yes! It's a really cool project, and it's a total departure from 'The Thing.' It's based on Jack Kerouac's famous book, and shot in seven locations throughout the world. In that film I play Sal Paradise's -- played by Sam Riley -- real, true gal. At the end of his adventures he decides to change his life and settle down with Laura, who is my character. Great cast. The director is Walter Salles, who directed 'The Motorcycle Diaries.' I think it's going to be a really exciting project coming out next year.
There are a lot of big names in the movie, like Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund. What was the dynamic like on set?
Most of my scenes were with Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley, who are fantastic. They're amazing. This is a film that really toured around, just like the book. The funny part is that shooting 'The Thing,' we were wearing snowpants in May, June, and we were boiling. Then shooting 'On the Road' it was December and I was in a strapless ball gown. It was quite funny.

Garrett says he locks lips with Kristen in OTR and also talk release date for OTR
As y'all know, Kristen Stewart stars in the Walter Salles-directed film opposite Country Strong's hunk of hotness Garrett Hedlund. The two do lock lips in the flick. "There's a few," Hedlund tells me of his and K.Stew's more intimate scenes.
However, what will make the cut is anybody's guess. Hedlund insists, "Walter didn't even watch dailies while we were filming," he says. "You know, there just wasn't the budget for it. We just kept pushing forward and pushing forward."
So when will we see the movie? "I think the end of the year or early next year," he divulges.
On The Road mentioned in @TorontoStar's "11 reasons for cinematic excitement in 2011" list.
On the Road (Walter Salles): There have been so many bad adaptations of Jack Kerouac’s classic beat novel, one of those “unfilmable” books, that the temptation is to shrug off yet another attempt. But this one is from Brazil’s Walter Salles, who nailed the Kerouac vibe with The Motorcycle Diaries, and who can be counted on to do something that respects the text without embalming it. Control’s Sam Riley and Tron: Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund star, with a supporting crew that includes Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst.

What Tron's Garrett Hedlund has to say about "On the Road" co-star Kristen Stewart
A new yummy man to stare at...and we'll be seeing him in On The Road as well! Here's what he has to say about Kristen Stewart:
"Kristen Stewart costars with Hedlund in the movie adaptation On the Road. "She was signed on to the movie before the first Twilight ever hit theaters," Hedlund said. "She's so good and she's so devoted. She's such an incredibly hard worker."

Kirsten Dunst says OTR is "an epic and a good thing to be part of."
Dunst is about to start work on a film version of Jack Kerouac's novel On the Road, co-starring Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart. "It's a guy's story," she admits, "but the women had wild times, too. Their roles are smaller, but it's an epic and a good thing to be part of."
