Robert talked briefly with MTV News last summer about the project, but what's the status now? We caught up with Naomi at the Sundance Film Festival (where she's promoting her film "Two Mothers") to find out.
"We'll wait and see," Naomi demurred when asked if filming would take place soon. "He's a director I'm completely in awe of. He's a wonderful filmmaker and documentarian. It's a fantastic character, great story. I'm not sure when it's going to take place yet; there's been so much travel, as well, and I've got little kids, so we'll see if it happens later this year or next year."
As to Robert's involvement: "I don't know if he definitely is yet," she said.

At least not together, that is. The two are signed to costar along with Jude Law in a Queen of the Desert, a period piece about British writer, traveler, archeologist and spy Gertrude Bell. "It's still a way's off," Watts told me last night at the Luminara and Mulberry Project dinner for her Sundance Film Festival movie, Two Mothers. "I don't know yet. Hopefully, it will happen. I just can't travel again right now because I did a lot of traveling last year. It's been a big year and it's time for me to be home with the kids."
:(
ReplyDeleteBut in welkepidia i sawcall the movies that robert did and the movies that hes going to do and this movie is on that list and many more hes going to do this year so i dont get it.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. maybe some filming schedules are looking to overlap or something with some of his projects which is leaving things up in the air with some of them at the mo? Time will tell I guess but I was quite keen to see him in this one.
ReplyDeleteFunny she said that. She has it in her head that the scheduling is going to be built around her. Unless its her movie, her budget (not), then Rob will do the movie if he is asked, and if the directors/producers want him. Her thoughts on that matter is so irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteI think you forget that she is the lead of the movie...Rob has got a small role.
DeleteNaomi Watts plays the title role and she definitely is relevant in determining the schedule. Same is true with both Rob and Judd. I am sure it will all work out with Rob.
ReplyDeleteAlso, she better pray he is interested in doing this film, still. The only reason that question came up, or any buzz about it was generated on the net over the last few months was because of Robert Pattinson's involvement. The financiers behind the film knows, and as soon as she does her homework, she'll get it. Here is a quote from Rob about this movie. And please keep in mind that unless its a sure thing, he wouldn't confirm it.
ReplyDeleteRob Pattinson changed out of his green suit before coming to the party with wearing a more casual red sweater and baseball cap, saying he has three movies to shoot before he even gets to "Queen of the Desert," in which he plays T.E. Lawrence opposite Naomi Watts' Gertude Bell. "I wanted to work with Werner Herzog," he told me. He has no idea if he'll go blond to play Lawrence fo Arabia. And the role is being expanded for him. First he has to get through David Michod's "The Rover."
It IS Naomi Watts' movie, so I would not be surprised if they work the scheduling around her. Rob has a lot of other projects lined up. If the new scheduling doesn't work because of another commitment Rob has, he may not be confirmed at this point. He is a supporting character. I love Rob, but the world does not revolve around him alone.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU, Debbi.
ReplyDeleteSHEESH! What the hell is wrong with some of you posting here?! You're making issue with the project's lead actress (*on Rob's behalf, of course*) where there IS NO ISSUE. Have you looked at all the movies R has lined up for himself in the near future?! He has PLENTY of work being thrown his way right now. Everything will fall into place as it needs to... he has enough on his plate even without QOTD to keep him busy for a loooong time. I'm sure ROB is not sweating the situation one bit! In addition, I'd think that he, being the mature, respectful, family-oriented man & hopeful future dad that he is, would understand his co-star needing to have some time at home with her small children this year, having been away a lot last year traveling for work. She sounds like a devoted mom who loves her kids, to me... give her a break, for Pete's sake!
