Cedric is #45 of 50 Greatest Harry Potter Characters

Photobucket

45 Cedric Diggory

As Played By: Robert Pattinson

The Character: Bucking the Hufflepuff trend for churning out loveable, cuddly, pussycat types, Diggory cuts rather a dash around Hogwarts, working the female students into a frenzy with his easy charm and chiselled good looks. Initially rivals with Harry in the build-up to the Triwizard Tournament, the two form a gradual bond of respect, before Voldemort throws a spanner in the works in the graveyard at Little Hangleton…Key Quote: “Harry, take my body back will you? Take my body back to my father.”

Edward & Bella Are Way More Epic Than Ron & Hermione

Welcome to our "Harry Potter"/"Twilight" point-counterpoint on the two franchises' supercouples. Who's more epic: Hermione and Ron, or Edward and Bella? Ryan McKee argues on behalf of "Twilight" lovers Edward and Bella below; read Sandie Angulo Chen's take on "Harry Potter" sweethearts Ron and Hermione here.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Summit
When NextMovie's editor told me Sandie Angulo Chen was writing a piece arguing Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger are a more epic couple than Bella and Edward, I thought, "Who?"
Not Sandie, I know who she is. She's been on my s**t list since last year for claiming there are no positive role models in "Eclipse." What? How about my girl Jessica Stanley (Anna Kendrick) earning valedictorian honors over vampire students who can read minds and see the future?
I digress. I thought, "Who?" referring to Ron and Hermione. It took me a moment to compute that Sandie claims Harry Potter's second fiddles are an epic couple. From what I gleaned by watching "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (it features R.Pattz), Hermione is cute and smart, but still doesn't have enough sense to fall in love with the hero (or even R.Pattz's character, for that matter). And Ron... that dude looks terrified 90 percent of the time and is constantly scrambling for his lost pet rat.
I was asked if I wanted to write an opposing argument. Easy money! Bella and Edward taking on Ron and Hermione is like LeBron James and Dwayne Wade playing two-on-two against Dobby and Filius Flitwick (for the record: I looked those references up). Let the battle begin.

Harry Potter Finale May Take New Moon and Eclipse Records

PhotobucketPhotobucket Photobucket

According to Entertainment Weekly, Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows may overtake he box office records set by New Moon:

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows–Part 2 has already collected $25 million domestically from advance ticket sales, according to Variety. The majority of the sales have reportedly been for midnight screenings, giving Deathly Hallows a legitimate shot at beating the $30 million midnight record set last year by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The final Harry Potter film will also be aiming its wand at some other box-office milestones, such as the largest opening day (currently The Twilight Saga: New Moon with $72.7 million) and the biggest opening weekend (The Dark Knight with $158.4 million).

Glamour UK~ Rob on the 'Harry Potter Stars All Grown Up'

Photobucket

This photo almost killed our Robert Pattinson crushes dead. Almost, but not quite. In 2005, the actor, who played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, thought it was a good idea to wear leather trousers, with a velvet jacket. Hmm – and we’re going to try and ignore those shoes. Not even you, Rob, can carry off this look.

Photobucket

Much better! In 2008 Robert swapped the leather and velvet for denim and general hotness. No wonder we were Robsessed as soon as we clapped eyes on him. Just a shame he forgot to tie his shoelaces.

Photobucket

Rob has developed his style credentials ever since and, this year, we named him 2011’s Best Dressed Man. Here, at the Water For Elephants German premiere, Rob wore a chocolate brown Gucci suit and showed he isn’t scared to experiment. As long as that experiment doesn’t involve those leather trouser, we’re happy with that, Rob.

E! Online: Twilight Vs. Harry Potter "And the Winner Is..." (The Result is Great!)

Photobucket

From: EOnline

"Sorry, you HP fans thought you had it in the bag over Twilight, ha!"

"Twilight will always be in HP's shadows…"

OK, so which is it, really? Can't we settle this box-office debate once and for all?

MORE: Answer B!tch's take on the Potter vs. Twilight debate.

Sure.

In the battle of the fantastically successful franchises (with the fanatically competitive fan bases), the winner is:

Harry Potter!

In all of Hollywood history, no franchise has grossed more money worldwide. (Forget about Team Twilight's dejection, and imagine how James Bond feels: 007 had a 38-year head start on the Hogwarts kid.)

Er, we mean, Twilight!

In all of Hollywood history, no franchise has made more money faster—at midnight, in a single day, and in an opening day.

Yeah, but Harry Potter movies are marathon runners—not sprinters!

Despite their fast starts, the Twilight films have never outgrossed a Harry Potter film (that's completed its theatrical run) on the all-time worldwide chart.

Yeah, but that's only 'cause the rest of the world is stupid!

On the all-time domestic chart, Eclipse and New Moon have outgrossed every Harry Potter, save Sorcerer's Stone and Half-Blood Prince.

Yeah, but…

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone made so much money that even when its ticket sales are adjusted for inflation, it's still an all-time box-office king, right there next to West Side Story. (Don't bother looking for the Twilight films on that Box Office Mojo chart; they're not there.)

Yeah, but…

The most expensive Twilight movie (Eclipse) cost about one-third of the cheapest Harry Potter film (Chamber of Secrets): The movies get more bang for their studio's bucks!

Oh, never mind…

Harry Potter and Twilight are both fantastically successful franchises, and that's the final verdict.

Deal with it.

Hahaha! I told you the result was great! Thanks, E! Thanks for being so real! Lol. And smacking haters into the dirt. We appreciate it. The evil Harry Potter fans are just afraid of Twilight because it's different and it's just as big.

Harry Potter Producer David Heyman Mentions Rob

Photobucket

Ask David Heyman producer of Harry Potter and The Huffington Post

Q: Of all the people that you have had, especially young people, has found new talent and has not only launched the careers of three guys, but others as well. Who has surprised you most?

DH: Look at Robert Pattinson. I do not know anyone else who has surprised me. Always good to see, for example, Gary Oldman - who had long been the bad guy or to very dark parts - to show his human side, warm and vulnerable. That's a real pleasure.

As Gary Oldman he has forged his reputation and his body at work because it is one of the big players, and the type. In reality what happens with Gary Oldman is that he does not have any, is just one of the big players. Therefore, it was a pleasure.

'Harry Potter' Ranks in $24 Million from Midnight Shows, Falls Short of 'Twilight'

The boy wizard couldn't beat the teen vampires."Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 1" sold $24 million in tickets in its debut late Thursday night with shows that started at or soon after midnight, according to an estimate from Warner Bros.

That's $1.8 million more than the last movie in the series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," brought in from midnight shows when it debuted in June 2009.It's well short, however, of the record set in July by "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which grossed more than $30 million during its late-night launch. In fact, "Deathly Hallows" is the No. 3 midnight opening of recent years, also coming up behind November 2009's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," which kicked off its opening weekend with $26.3 million.

Harry Potter Cast Talks Twilight and Working With its Castmates

Tom Felton ("Draco Malfoy") was asked on the red carpet of HP7's NYC premiere last night how his experience of working with Ashley Greene ("Alice Cullen") in Apparition was. “Ashley’s a wonder to work with and she looks fierce on the screen," he explained. Felton wasn't the only one to remark on working with a Twilight star. In fact, he wasn't the only "Malfoy" to do so.

Felton's on-screen father Jason Isaacs ("Lucius Malfoy") also spoke up about working with Taylor Lautner in Abduction. "He is a martial arts wizard in real life - he can do standing double back somersaults, and he used to do exhibitions at the karate world championships - but I had to beat him up, and I couldn't beat my wife in a fight . . . It was interesting to see another young person who is universally known but very different to Daniel, Rupert and Emma. The Twilight phenomenon is different . . .I am now - and have to be - Team Jacob, because Taylor is a lovely boy." The full interview is available here

"Lucius Malfoy" is "Team Jacob"? In the attached video from an MTV interview, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, and Rupert Grint all take on the task of speaking with an American accent. They are asked to say, "Twilight blows." Radcliffe says, "My apologies in advance, Rob, I'm just reading what's on the card, just following orders." And Emma Watson, whose words on the subject of Twilight were heavily inspected a few weeks back, said, "Oh, this is controversial. This is a trick! You are trying to trick me!"

Honestly, this whole debate is just ridiculous. Harry Potter is a great story about adventure, it's scary, it's thrilling and I'm sure it's centered around goodness overcoming evil. Twilight, is a beautiful love story that really teaches something. So, really it depends on the type of person you are. And the fact that Emma Watson even went as far as to say that Twilight is selling sex (which is completely twisted, because the story is all about abstinence) doesn't tell me good things.

Moviefone’s ‘Twilight’ vs. ‘Harry Potter’

Photobucket

Moviefone: 'Harry Potter' and 'Twilight' fans have long been pitted against each other.

For example, for the upcoming People's Choice Awards, only Emma Watson made the cut to represent the 'Harry Potter' kids -- a crime against Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe! Meanwhile, both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart of 'Twilight' garnered nominations.

'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter' are both fantasy books-turned-movies, and they've shared one actor in the form of Mr. Pattinson (who played Cedric in 'Potter' and now plays Edward in 'Twilight'). They have also both achieved cult-like devotion from their rabid fans.

Before the next 'Potter' film comes out on Nov. 19, we're curious to see which movie (and book) series' fans have the strongest base.

For one thing, we're looking for the biggest 'Harry Potter' fans and biggest 'Twilight' fans to submit videos about why they're the best and craziest representatives for their franchise. Think you have what it takes? Submit your video about why you're the biggest 'Harry Potter' or 'Twilight' fan of them all. Winner gets bragging rights and possibly the chance to thumb-wrestle your 'Potter' or 'Twilight' counterpart.
